Thestra Oy, a Finnish cancer diagnostics company developing the proprietary EPLINEX® method for cancer diagnostics and therapy stratification, has secured funding from Business Finland and Nordic Science Investments (NSI) to accelerate development, piloting, and business scaling of EPLINEX®.
The funding provides an important foundation for further advancing the technology towards wider clinical use and international commercialization.
EPLINEX® is being developed to identify patients with aggressive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and support more precise treatment selection. By enabling improved patient stratification, the method has the potential to help clinicians select effective treatments while reducing unnecessary treatment-related side effects. Thestra is also advancing AI-based tissue analysis as part of its diagnostic development.
Business Finland and Nordic Science Investments have both previously supported Thestra’s operations. Business Finland has contributed to the technology’s development already through its Research-to-Business funding and subsequently supported Thestra’s product development and piloting activities. NSI became Thestra’s first venture investor in 2024 and has continued to support the company’s growth with its expertise, networks, and investment.
The new funding strengthens this long-term collaboration and enables Thestra to take further significant steps towards clinical validation, piloting, commercialization, and international growth of EPLINEX®. The company’s goal is to translate high-quality academic research into practical diagnostic solutions that enable more precise and personalized cancer treatment.
